Hi, and thanks for stopping by my blog!
This is my cooking notebook, and it’s a place to record all the recipes I learned, refined, and made my own in one way or another over the last few years.
I’m influenced by my mom’s amazing, and far-reaching cooking repertiore, as well as the flavors I picked up in Bombay (where we lived when my twins were born) and New York City (we live in Queens right now). I also am interested in Southern cooking, as I grew up in South Carolina, so the occasional collard green or pimento cheese definitely sneaks into rotation from time to time!
Most of all, I am committed to making real food and the enjoyment of real food a central part of my family’s life! I am constantly weighing my girls’ fascination with juice boxes, ketchup packets, and all kinds of other junk against my desire to have them eat wholesome, real food. This blog is, in part, a place to explore that ongoing process.
Vegetarian and Vegan
All recipes on this blog are vegetarian, and many are vegan. I try to offer ideas for substitutions and modifications where possible, but I don’t love cooking with tons of meat substitutes, so you won’t find much of that here. If you have questions or suggestions about this style of cooking, please let me know!
About the Photographs
All photos on this blog are my own, taken in my own kitchen. I’ve been learning a lot about food photography thanks to this blog, and it’s been a lot of fun. Let me know what you think about the photos!
